Dunwoody yards are shaded and often sloped, and both are decided by the base. Before the turf goes down we grade for flow, build a three to four inch compacted base that drains instead of holding, and run a drain line and catch basin where the water already wants to go. Seams are glued on tape and pinned, the perimeter is secured every six inches, and infill is brushed in. Under mature trees, where grass has not grown right in years, this is the only thing that holds.
