What to Expect During an Artificial Turf Installation in Metro Atlanta
Step 1: The Free Estimate
Everything starts with a free on site estimate. We come to your property, walk the area with you, assess the site conditions, discuss your goals, and take measurements.
We will talk through product options, explain the installation process specific to your site, and provide a clear, itemized written estimate before you make any decisions. No pressure, no obligation.
Step 2: Site Preparation
On installation day, the first step is site preparation. This involves removing existing natural grass and vegetation to the required depth, typically 3 to 4 inches depending on the project.
The excavated material is removed from the property. A weed barrier fabric is installed to prevent any future growth from coming up through the turf. This step is critical and cannot be rushed. This process is the same whether you are completing a residential turf installation or a large commercial project.
Step 3: Base Installation
The base layer is the most important part of any artificial turf installation and the step where many lower quality installers cut corners.
We install a crushed aggregate base, typically decomposed granite or a crushed stone blend, at the appropriate depth. This base is then compacted using professional equipment and graded to ensure proper drainage away from structures and toward appropriate drainage points.
A properly built base is what allows the turf to remain stable, level, and looking great for the full product lifespan. For commercial properties with additional load and traffic requirements, see our commercial turf installation page for how we spec those projects differently.
Step 4: Turf Installation
Once the base is built and inspected, the turf is rolled out, cut to fit, and secured around the perimeter and at any seam locations. Seams are carefully positioned and joined using specialized adhesive and seaming tape to ensure they are as invisible as possible.
Infill is then applied across the surface and worked into the turf fibers using a power broom. The infill stabilizes the blades, adds weight, and contributes to the overall appearance and performance of the finished surface.
Step 5: Cleanup and Final Walkthrough
We clean up all material and equipment from your property and do a final walkthrough with you to confirm everything meets your expectations before we leave.
Most residential installations are completed in one to two days. You will have a finished, usable surface the same day installation is complete.
